In October 2019, Eve Payor invited me to co-lead a soundwalk with her in Daytona Beach, Florida. I wanted to use that opportunity to share with the public some of the tools that are part of my regular field recording practice. Eve and I decided to build the experience around some headphone listening stations. At the first station, our audience could listen to sounds beneath the surface of a small duckweed pond live using hydrophones. Although the water was relatively still, the hydrophones turned the occasional gurgle or splash into significant events. The entire experience was further enhanced by a typical Florida rain shower that started slow, but gradually grew into a heavy downpour.
