about

This album is the first of 4 compositions created for a gallery installation called 'every morning'. Based on audio field recordings captured at DeLeon Springs State Park in Florida between June 2018 and June 2019, the piece was assembled from over 20 field recordings made on the same spot (bench 6) inside the park. The aural montage cuts between different moments in time and creates interesting collisions between geophony, biophony, and anthrophony.

The absence of any cross-fading only heightens the sense of dislocation as listeners bounce from time to time. Some of these edits happen rapidly, preventing the listener from settling in to a specific place. Other segments take their time and allow the listener to focus on the sounds unfolding around them.

It is highly recommended that you listen to the piece over headphones to maximize the immersive quality of the soundscape recordings.
